Map Prescription

The Map Prescription module turns NDVI imagery into variable-rate application shapefiles. This is the feature reference. If you're new, read Getting Started for Agronomists first.

Home page#

Two tabs at the top:

Prescription Maps tab#

• "{N} Prescription Maps in the system" count.
• Search Prescription Map input.
• Import Images action (drone imagery upload).
• Empty state: "No prescription maps yet. Create a new map using satellite or drone images."
• Card grid, each card:
  • Title (or "Prescription Map" default).
  • Source: "Satellite image" or "Drone image".
  • Actions: Download Shapefile, View Prescription Map.
• Create New card opens the wizard.

Photogrammetry tab#

• Filter: All statuses / Processing / Completed / Failed.
• Empty state (no jobs): "No drone processing jobs yet. Upload images to create a prescription map."
• Empty state (filtered): "No jobs match the selected filter."
• Card per job:
  • Status badge: Pending / Uploading / Queued / Processing / Completed / Failed / Canceled.
  • Status text: "Processing images..." while running.
  • View in Map action when completed.

The wizard (right-side drawer)#

Title: "Create new Prescription Map".

Step 1 — Select Farm & Field#

• Farm dropdown / Add New Farm.
• Field dropdown / Draw new field.
• Modal "Create New Farm": name input, Create / Cancel.
• When drawing a field: "Drawing new field — Draw the perimeter of your field."

Save field modal: "Save drawn field" — name input ("Field name is required" validation), Create Field / Cancel.

Step 2 — Define Plot#

• Plot dropdown / Create new plot.
• Plot drawing: "Draw the area of the plot within the field." While drawing: "Drawing... (click to cancel)".
• Validation: "Invalid plot boundary — The plot must be drawn entirely within the field boundary. Please try again."

Save plot modal: "Save drawn plot" — name ("Plot name is required"), crop type ("Crop type is required"), season ("Season is required").

Crop types: Soybean, Corn, Wheat, Cotton, Sugar cane, Coffee, Rice, Beans, Other.

Step 3 — Processing#

Source selector at the top: Satellite ↔ Drone (OTMc).

Satellite panel#

• Search Satellite Image action. While running: "Searching for recent images...".
• View mode toggle: True Color / NDVI (Health).
• Info card: Date/Time, Cloud Cover, Platform; "N/A" when missing.
• NDVI Index legend:
  • Bare soil / Severe stress (< 0.2)
  • Moderate stress (0.2–0.4)
  • Good vegetation (0.4–0.6)
  • Optimal vegetation (> 0.6)
• Empty state: "No recent satellite image found for this area. Try adjusting your plot or try again later."

Drone panel#

• Upload Drone Images opens the drawer:

  • Heading: "Upload Images".
  • Description: "Upload drone images to create a prescription map."
  • Form: Farm, Field, Images (drop zone "Drag and drop images here / Or select images from your computer / Max file size: {size}").
  • Errors: "File size exceeds the maximum limit of {size}", "Maximum number of files reached", "File type not supported".
  • Submit: Start Processing.
  • Success: "Images Uploaded — Your images have been submitted for processing. Track progress in the Photogrammetry tab."

• Processed Images dropdown when datasets exist. Empty state: "No processed images available for this field yet. Upload images first.". Hint: "Select a processed dataset to use in your prescription map."

• Image processing progress: "Image Processing" with states Waiting for worker to start... / Queued for processing... / Processing images... / Processing complete! Images are now available. / Processing failed. Please try again. / Processing was canceled. Action: Dismiss.

• Bounds error: "Image outside plot area — The processed drone image does not overlap with the selected plot. Please select a different image or adjust the plot boundary."

Layer controls (always)#

• Satellite (Base), Labels.
• Satellite (True Color) / Satellite (NDVI) when satellite source.
• Drone (True Color) / Drone (NDVI) when drone source.
• Field Boundary, Plot Boundary.

Save & Proceed#

Action: Save & Proceed. Hint: "You have {N} free map prescriptions." when applicable.

Zone Editor (large drawer)#

Title: "Create Prescription Map". Three sub-steps in a stepper:

1. Configure Zones
2. VRA Prescription
3. Product Estimate

Configure Zones#

• Zone count: Low / Medium / High.
• Method: K-Means / Jenks Natural Breaks / Quantile / Equal Interval (each with descriptive subtitle).
• Block size (m): integer, 3–50. Errors: "Block size must be at least 3 meters", "Block size must be at most 50 meters".
• Preset: Recovery / Maintenance / Neutral.
• Action: Generate Zones Automatically. While running: "Generating Zones...".

VRA Prescription#

After zones generate, success alert: "Zones generated successfully! — {N} polygons created. The zones are generated automatically based on the NDVI. You can adjust them manually afterwards."

• Statistics: Zones, Avg NDVI, Min NDVI, Max NDVI.
• Edit Zones tools block: "Use the tools below to edit the generated zones." Selected count: "# block(s) selected".
• Bulk Editing panel: selected count, "Set a single rate for the zones highlighted on the map.", Apply.
• VRA Prescription card: mission toggle Spraying / Spreading.
• Classification Thresholds:
  • Lower: "NDVI < {value} = Bare Soil / Low Vigor (Zone 1)"
  • Upper: "NDVI ≥ {value} = High Vigor (last zone)"
• Application Rate by Zone ({unit}) — editable per zone. Zone labels include "Low Vigor", "Medium Vigor", "High Vigor" or the default "Zone {id}".
• Merge Zones button. While running: "Merging...". Success: "Zones merged".
• Redistribute Blocks: "Select the target zone and click a block on the map to reassign it." Stop painting to exit.
• Generate VRA Prescription action. While running: "Generating VRA Prescription...".

Product Estimate#

• Total Area.
• Required Product.
• Estimated Flights.
• Avg. rate: {rate}.
• Download Shapefile (.zip).
• Save this project — Coming soon.

Exclusion Zones#

Drawer with:

• Title: "Draw Exclusion Zones".
• Description: "Draw areas where you don't want any product to be applied."
• Actions: Draw Exclusion Zone, Undo last zone, Clear all zones, Done.
• Hint: "Click on the map to draw an exclusion area".
• Counter: "# exclusion zone(s) drawn".

Errors#

• "Missing required parameters. Redirecting..." — invalid wizard URL.
• "Failed to load prescription data." — backend error retrieving stored prescription.

Tools palette (map)#

• Draw Boundary / "Click on the map to add points. Click the starting point to close the polygon."
• Select / Correct / "Click a polygon to select it. Press Delete to remove it."
• Select Blocks / "Drag a box around multiple polygons to select them."
• Move Points / "Drag vertices to modify the shape. Press Alt + Click on a vertex to delete it."

Tip line: "Use 'Select' to delete incorrect drawings".

Permissions#

Action	Role
