Drone Offline

What 'Offline' means, why it happens, and how to bring a drone back online.

When a drone's card shows Offline, the portal has stopped receiving telemetry for longer than the configured offline threshold (default 60 seconds). The drone itself may be:

  • Powered off — most common, normal between missions.
  • Out of cellular / Wi-Fi range — controller can't send telemetry to the portal.
  • Telemetry pipeline issue — controller and drone are fine; the link to the portal is broken.

This page walks through diagnosis in order from most likely to least.

Step 1 — Is the drone actually powered on?

The simplest case. Offline doesn't necessarily mean broken — it usually means "not flying right now."

If the drone is currently off (between missions), Offline is expected. The card will switch back to its previous readiness state as soon as you power on and the controller establishes a link.

Step 2 — Is the controller connected to the network?

The controller is the bridge between the drone and the portal. If the controller has no cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity, telemetry can't reach the portal even though the drone is flying just fine.

To check:

  1. On the controller, look for the network status indicator.
  2. Try opening any web page on the controller's browser.
  3. If the controller is offline, switch to a different network or move within Wi-Fi range.

If the drone is flying but the controller shows the link as lost, you have an RC link issue:

  • Out of RC range — return the drone (RTL).
  • Interference — move to a less-congested band; check for nearby high-power transmitters.
  • Antenna issue — power-cycle. Persistent failures → support ticket.

If the link is healthy but the portal still shows Offline, the issue is between the controller and the portal (Step 4).

Step 4 — Telemetry pipeline

If both the drone and the controller are connected but the portal still shows Offline:

  1. Wait 2 minutes. Telemetry can backlog briefly.
  2. Reload the portal in the browser.
  3. Sign out and back in of the portal.
  4. Power-cycle the controller (last resort — you'll lose any in-progress mission state).

If the drone is still Offline after these steps, open a support ticket. Include:

  • Drone serial number.
  • Controller serial number (if visible).
  • Time at which the drone went Offline.
  • Confirmation that the drone + controller are online from your side.

Edge cases

"Offline" after the drone lands

Expected. The controller usually keeps a link for a few minutes post-landing to flush telemetry, then the drone powers down. The card transitions to Offline once the link drops.

"Offline" but the most recent flight uploaded

The drone uploaded its flight, then went Offline (probably powered down). Nothing wrong.

Multiple drones Offline simultaneously

Suggests a network issue (your Wi-Fi, your cellular carrier, or — rarely — the portal). Check whether your other internet-connected services are working. If only the portal is unreachable, open a support ticket via your dealer.

Persistent Offline despite drone being on and connected

Open a support ticket. This usually indicates a portal-side or controller-software issue that needs investigation.
