Prescription Maps Reference
Complete reference for the Map Prescription module — wizard steps, methods, presets, edit tools, and downloads.
This is the full reference for the Map Prescription module. If you're new to the workflow, start with Getting Started for Agronomists. This page is the deep-dive.
The home page
Map Prescription in the sidebar opens the home page, which has two tabs:
Prescription Maps tab
Lists every saved prescription map for the active account. Each card shows:
- The map's title
- Source: Satellite image / Drone image
- A placeholder value (e.g., crop type, season) when set
- Actions: Download Shapefile, View Prescription Map
A Create New card opens the wizard.
Photogrammetry tab
Lists every drone-imagery processing job for the account. Each card shows:
- Status: Pending, Uploading, Queued, Processing, Completed, Failed, Canceled
- A filter lets you scope by status.
- The View in Map action opens the processed scene in the prescription wizard.
When the tab is empty, you'll see "No drone processing jobs yet. Upload images to create a prescription map."
The wizard
The wizard is a right-side drawer with three top-level steps:

Step 1 — Select Farm & Field
- Farm dropdown: pick an existing farm or Add New Farm.
- Field dropdown: pick an existing field or Draw new field.
- When drawing, the map enters drawing mode. Click to place vertices; click the first vertex again to close the polygon.
Step 2 — Define Plot
- Plot dropdown: pick existing or Create new plot.
- When creating, click Draw plot, draw the polygon (must lie inside the field), and click again to close.
- The portal validates: The plot must be drawn entirely within the field boundary. Please try again. If invalid, redraw.
- Save with name, crop type (Soybean / Corn / Wheat / Cotton / Sugar cane / Coffee / Rice / Beans / Other), and season.
Step 3 — Processing
Toggle between Satellite and Drone (OTM) with the source selector at the top of the panel.
Satellite source
- Search Satellite Image — fetches the most recent acceptable scene.
- View mode toggle: True Color ↔ NDVI (Health).
- Info card: Date/Time, Cloud Cover, Platform.
- NDVI legend with four categories:
- Bare soil / Severe stress (< 0.2)
- Moderate stress (0.2–0.4)
- Good vegetation (0.4–0.6)
- Optimal vegetation (> 0.6)
If no scene is available you'll see: No recent satellite image found for this area. Try adjusting your plot or try again later.
Drone source
- Upload Drone Images opens a drawer for selecting farm/field and dragging in images.
- Once submitted, you'll see: Your images have been submitted for processing. Track progress in the Photogrammetry tab.
- After processing completes, pick the dataset from the Processed Images dropdown.
- A validation runs: if the orthomosaic doesn't overlap the plot, you'll see The processed drone image does not overlap with the selected plot. Please select a different image or adjust the plot boundary.
Save & Proceed
Click Save & Proceed to open the Zone Editor.
The Zone Editor
A larger drawer with three sub-steps:

Configure Zones
- Zones count: Low / Medium / High.
- Method:
- K-Means — equal-frequency clustering by NDVI similarity.
- Jenks Natural Breaks — minimizes intra-class variance.
- Quantile — equal-sized groups by area.
- Equal Interval — equal NDVI ranges per zone.
- Block size (m): 3–50 meters. The portal validates the bounds.
- Prescription preset:
- Recovery — apply more where NDVI is low.
- Maintenance — apply more where NDVI is high.
- Neutral — uniform rates.
- Generate Zones Automatically runs the clustering.
VRA Prescription
Shown after zones are generated:
- Statistics: Zones, Avg NDVI, Min NDVI, Max NDVI.
- Edit Zones tools: select, redistribute, merge, paint, draw exclusion.
- Bulk Editing panel: applies a single rate to highlighted blocks.
- VRA Prescription card: switch between Spraying and Spreading mission types.
- Classification Thresholds:
- Lower —
NDVI < value→ Zone 1 (Bare Soil / Low Vigor) - Upper —
NDVI ≥ value→ last zone (High Vigor)
- Lower —
- Application rate by zone with editable rate per zone (units depend on mission type).
- Generate VRA Prescription finalizes.
Product Estimate
- Total Area of the prescription.
- Required Product — total volume or mass.
- Estimated Flights — rough estimate.
- Avg. rate across the field.
- Download Shapefile (.zip).
- Save this project — coming soon.
The map tools palette
While drawing or editing on the map you have:
- Draw Boundary — Click on the map to add points. Click the starting point to close the polygon.
- Select / Correct — Click a polygon to select it. Press Delete to remove it.
- Select Blocks — Drag a box around multiple polygons to select them.
- Move Points — Drag vertices to modify the shape. Press Alt + Click on a vertex to delete it.
The tip line Use "Select" to delete incorrect drawings appears under the tools palette.
Layer controls
Always visible:
- Satellite (Base) — background imagery.
- Labels overlay.
- Satellite (True Color) / Satellite (NDVI) when a satellite scene is loaded.
- Drone (True Color) / Drone (NDVI) when a drone orthomosaic is loaded.
- Field Boundary, Plot Boundary — drawn polygons.
- Generated Zones — VRA polygons after generation.
Each layer can be toggled and its opacity adjusted.
Exclusion zones
In the VRA step, use Draw Exclusion Zones to mark areas where no product should be applied (waterways, headlands, sensitive plots). Tools available:
- Draw Exclusion Zone
- Undo last zone
- Clear all zones
- Done — finalize
The counter shows "N exclusion zones drawn".
Common pitfalls
- Plot outside the field: the portal blocks the save. Redraw smaller or pick a larger field.
- No satellite scene found: try again later or use drone imagery.
- Drone orthomosaic doesn't overlap plot: the wrong dataset was picked. Reselect from the Processed Images list, or capture new imagery covering the plot.
- Zones look noisy: increase block size (e.g., from 5m to 10m).
