Territory and Network
Understand Distributor, Reseller, and Sub-dealer tiers, parent relationships, territories, and transferring drones inside your network.
Dealership operations in the US are organized as a tiered network: distributors at the top, resellers and sub-dealers below, each with a defined territory. This guide explains how those relationships appear in GTRV Dealer and how to move drones between accounts inside the network.
Tier hierarchy
Three contract tiers appear everywhere accounts are listed (onboarding, Switch Account, service order metadata):
| Tier | Label in UI | Network role |
|---|---|---|
DISTRIBUTOR | Distributor | Root or regional hub; may have Network in the sidebar. |
RESELLER | Reseller | Sells and services under a parent Distributor; sees own stock plus permitted sales scope. |
SUB_DEALER | Sub-dealer | Smallest footprint; reports to a Reseller or Distributor parent. |
Your active account's tier is shown as the subtitle on each account card. API records also store parentDealership when the account is not a root distributor.
Parent, siblings, and territory
Parent dealership
Every Reseller and Sub-dealer links to a parent dealership in the data model. The parent:
- Provisions your account and territory.
- May transfer drones into your stock through Distribution or Dealer sale transfer types.
- Receives warranty and escalation visibility according to your contract.
You do not edit the parent link in self-service UI — GTEEX or the parent Distributor sets it during onboarding.
Sibling network
Siblings are other dealerships with the same parent (for example, two Reseller branches under one Distributor). The Network view lists them for Distributor admins so you can:
- See which sub-dealers and resellers are active in your territory.
- Coordinate stock and RMA returns without treating another sibling as a customer account.
Territory itself is derived from the active dealership's country and region rules (ISO country on the dealership record drives filters such as no-fly zone scope).
Open the network view
Confirm you are a Distributor
Check the account switcher subtitle reads Distributor. If it reads Reseller or Sub-dealer, network administration is handled by your parent — skip to transferring drones below.
Open Network
In the sidebar, click Network.
Review child dealerships
Use the list or map to see linked Reseller and Sub-dealer accounts, their status, and territory overlap. Create new sub-dealers here when your contract allows (requires DEALERSHIP_MANAGER / admin role).
See Network for field-level UI reference.
Transferring drones inside the network
Drones belong to customer accounts for ownership, but your dealership services and moves stock through transfer events recorded in immutable history.
Where to transfer
- Open Drones → select a drone → Transfer History tab, or use Transfer from the history actions.
- Alternatively, on Edit Drone, use Transfer ownership — Owner changes go through the dedicated transfer flow so the change is recorded in the drone history.
The Transfer drone drawer fields:
- Transfer type — classifies the business event.
- Destination account — search by name or fiscal document; current owner is excluded.
Transfer types (in-network)
| Type | UI label | Typical use inside network |
|---|---|---|
DISTRIBUTION | Distribution | Parent Distributor pushes stock to a Reseller or Sub-dealer. |
DEALER_SALE | Dealer sale | Sale between dealership accounts in your channel. |
CUSTOMER_SALE | Customer sale | Outbound to a farmer/customer account (end customer ownership). |
RMA_RETURN | RMA return | Reversal when chain rules block a forward transfer — use to step back one hop. |
MANUFACTURING | Manufacturing | Factory-origin entry (OEM/distributor only in practice). |
Click Transfer to submit. Success shows Drone transferred and a new row in Transfer History with From, To, Performed by, and Date.
Transfers vs. customer ownership
- Transfer ownership on the edit flow is for changing the owner account (customer) with audit trail.
- In-network moves between dealerships usually use Distribution or Dealer sale while the customer owner field stays unchanged until a Customer sale.
For drones that stop syncing after a move, see Drone not syncing.
No-fly zones and territory
No-Fly Zones in the sidebar shows zones intersecting your dealership territory. Distributors often maintain selective zones for the whole network; resellers see the subset affecting their stock and customers.
Drone detail → No-Fly Zones tab lists zones linked to that aircraft. Territory changes at the dealership level flow into spatial queries automatically — you do not relink zones per drone after a territory update.
Practical admin checklist
- Document your tier and parent name for support escalations.
- After onboarding a Sub-dealer, run a Distribution transfer for initial stock instead of ad-hoc customer sales.
- Keep sibling transfers inside Dealer sale / Distribution so warranty and service order dealership fields stay consistent.
- Restrict Network changes to two admins to avoid duplicate sub-dealer records.
